Sociological Theory from a Gender Perspective |

In this WG sociological researchers and educators are working together to produce and use a new teaching manual that will allow sociology departments to teach classes on gender and sociology. This working group builds on the the work done by working group 1 B6 in ATHENA2. During the three years of ATHENA2 this working group has collected material to produce a textbook on Sociology and Gender, with a twofold aim: to integrate gender issue in mainstream sociology and also to make the sociological contribution to gender studies more visible. The textbook was scheduled to be published in Spring 2007. The book is aimed at advanced students and has extended bibliography and some small portraits of famous female sociologist. In ATHENA3 this working group is working to publish this book as a teaching manual. It plans to design modules and courses around the textbook, both in sociology departments and within gender studies. |
