Dear Friends and Colleagues in the ATHENA-network,

Download Document (PDF)

This is a draft of a Tuning-publication: a small book that will be published by the EU. The book contains 'Reference Points for the Design and Delivery of Degree Programmes in Gender Studies'. It also contains background information on Gender Studies and reports on competences that stakeholders (academics, graduates, students, activists and equal opportunity specialists) find important for Gender Studies graduates. This book will be the last publication of ATHENA3, and be of great value when writing applications for Gender Studies; it means the field will not be judged with criteria from other fields. All active ATHENA3 members are invited to offer suggestions for improvement. Please send your suggestions for improvement to Edyta Just e.just@uu.nl by December 1, 2009. Thank you very much for your support and cooperation.

Tuning Validation Conference
During the first ATGENDER conference held at Amazone in Brussels, the Tuning Validation Conference set by the ATHENA3 had its evaluation session on February 18, 2010. The Validation Panel members discussed and assessed the Gender Studies Tuning Brochure. The Brochure is the result of over a decade of intensive cooperation and exchange in Gender Studies in Europe through the ATHENA network and crucial tool for a quality assessment in Gender Studies Teaching Programmes prepared according to the Tuning Methodology (Tuning is an EC-sponsored programme for Quality Assessment in Higher Education). In the afternoon the Tuning Validation Panel members reported back to the ATGENDER conference participants on their preliminary, very positive, findings. The comments and suggestions given should serve the enhancement of the already well assessed and evaluated document.
